Sweet peas, named after their delightful sweet fragrance have been around for a long time. This variety is prized for it's deep maroon, nearly black flowers that emerge from 5-6 foot vines.

Sweet peas thrive in the heat but do prefer cool nights. They are easily adaptable though.

Annual. Seeds are large and can easily be collected for planting the following spring. Ideal temperatures should be between 50 and 75 degrees. Soak seeds for 24 hours before planting. The plant blooms and produces pods in less than 60 days.

The vines will need a trellis or fence for support.
