From the Giant series of coleus, Palisandra is a velvety brownish black with a touch of purple. Giant coleus gets substantially larger than the standard at about 16 inches tall and wide. Still a great size for an impressive house plant.


Coleus is known for its shade loving qualities which makes for a perfect house plant or for that part of your yard that’s bare, because it doesn’t get much light. Black plants in particular are sensitive to sunlight.


These thrive in room temperature and part to nearly full shade. They are extremely easy to care for and grow rapidly making them great for cuttings into new plants!


Trimming coleus is encouraged to create bushier growth and cuttings will easily root when placed in some moist soil. I even do it without rooting hormone.


Coleus is known for its beautiful foliage but it’s flowers are pretty too and come in a variety of colors. See my other listings for more varieties.

Commonly referred to as an annual but is actually a tender perennial. If protected from frost, they can live for many years.
