WINTER PLANTING FOR COOL CLIMATES

FOR CLIMATE ZONES 3-8B Plant when temperatures are 45 degrees or less.

If you wait until spring, you will have to cold stratify the seeds in your refrigerator.

Limited quantity due to the fact that these seeds must be very fresh.

The challenging but highly sought after elusive Blue Himalayan Poppy!

NOTE: I do not recommend attempting to grow these in climates warmer than zone 8B. They need a period of cold to germinate.

These are ideal for mountainous rock gardens and will specifically do well

In the Pacific Northwest where the weather is cool and wet. They are the national flower of Scotland where conditions are perfect for them and very similar to the Pacific Northwest. They will grow well in other regions, but I would not recommend them if your climate is desert-like, very hot, very dry or both. Humidity is good but not hot humidity.

These need part shade, they will not tolerate full sun.

If you are in a tropical climate, I would recommend any other poppies other than Himalayan or Oriental poppies. Annual poppies grown in fall are your best bet. You are welcome to try to grow them in warmer climates, but unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that the seeds will sprout or live long enough to flower.

These are actually best planted in the fall or very early spring. Reason being is that they need a period of cold to germinate. They WILL NOT flower the first year. Even if you grow from divisions, they will not flower until their second year.

These prefer acidic well draining soil, they like a lot of water but they don’t want to sit in it. You can amend your soil with acidifier and/or pink bark/mulch to print the ph down.

Given the right conditions, these will absolutely wow you with their unique and unusual blue blooms.

Blooms are 4 inches across. It grows 3-4 feet tall and 1-2 feet wide.

Growing zones 3-8B only. I cannot guarantee and do not recommend growing these in a climate warmer than 8B.
