This is for 20 Dwarf Heavenly Bamboo seeds, originally collected in Japan. The plant has beautiful green foliage edged in red, new foliage is bright pink and the whole plant turns a stunning bright red in fall. The colors are more prominent if the plant is given more sunlight, but it prefers morning sun in warmer climates.

I was in awe the first time I saw this plant in fall. Both the stems and offshoots are reminiscent of bamboo stalks. This plant is not related to bamboo is not invasive.

It can be grown as a small shrub or a bonsai if kept in a small pot. It can be grown as a house plant in an east facing window. Move to a western or southern facing window if the plant is expressing more green than reddish leaves.

Grows 4-5 feet tall and 3 feet wall or trimmed to desired size.

These are extremely easy to grow and not fussy. I have had my plant for 15 years, here in zone 10. It got completely covered by a vigorous gardenia and I did not notice it was missing for a couple of years. I found it, small, receiving almost no sunlight or fertilizer, but very much alive. I transferred it to a pot and it has fully recovered and is now a very happy and beautiful plant. They are nearly impossible to kill, yet not invasive at all. Great for beginner gardeners.

These also make for a very attractive hedge.

The seeds are easy to germinate but can benefit from some cold storage prior to sowing. They are currently kept in cold storage.
