These can be planted in either spring or fall. Fall planting gives you a better chance of getting blooms the first year. Spring planting provides flowers the second year.
Most little girls who grew up with these know about the hollyhock "doll making." It is one of the cutest things ever. You take a bud and peel the green off and stick that in the upside down portion of an opened bloom. (see photos)
This is a mix of Pink, Red, Purple, Yellow and White
Hollyhocks grow to an impressive 5-8 feet tall with multiple blooms on each stalk. Ideal germination temperatures should be between 60 and 70 degrees.
Stratifying by planting in late fall for a spring emergence or stratifying in your refrigerator for 30 days (fold seeds into a moist paper towel and then a sealed ziploc bag and place in your refrigerator) will greatly increase germination.
Biennial that is a prolific seed producer, which makes them come back year after year. Allow the plants to self-seed
