A majestic tree with peeling bark that reveals bright shades or orange, lime green, blue and red.
This is a VERY fast growing tree. They are said to grow 3 feet per year, but mine grew at least 5 feet. The larger they get, the faster they seem to grow.
It takes a couple of years before the bark starts to peel, but you will see glimpses of lime green around the branches and then WOW!
The leaves are elongated and smell of the other eucalyptus you are familiar with.
The trunk grows straight up and will quickly make its way to the sun if shaded by other trees. It does not have a large canopy, growing more upright, so it won’t shade out other trees. With most of the foliage at the top, the trunk is the star of the show.
These are said to grow up to 300 feet in their native Australia and 100 feet in tropical climates of the US. I had to have this tree. It is situated near the street for all to enjoy.
This is for 50 seeds.
My first attempt at germination, many years ago was unsuccessful as I was unaware of the need for a brief period of cold stratification.
THESE SEEDS NEED 90 DEGREE TEMPERATURES TO SPROUT. UNLESS YOU ARE IN A VERY HOT CLIMATE, MAKE SURE YOU USE A HEAT MAT FOR PLANTS.
Seeds should be soaked for 24 hours, then sowed 1/16 of an inch, very near the surface in a flat (tray that holds cells of soil.) the tray should be placed in a sealed plastic bag to retain moisture and then placed in your refrigerator for 2 weeks. Then the seeds can be placed in a warm sunny spot for germination.
Plants grow very quickly and are worth growing from seed.
