These have a bush form and do not require a trellis or stakes to climb on.
The pods turn green when cooked and are delicious!
Ideal temperatures for planting are between 70-80 degrees. Sprouts quickly. Harvest in only 50 days!

Plant when temperatures are between 70-80 degrees. Planting time will depend on your climate. Choose an area that gets full sun. Dig out an area a few inches deep and replace the soil with a good garden soil. Manure and/or organic compost is also beneficial. These have a bush habit so they do not require staking. Plant seeds ½ to 1 inch deep. Water well and continue to water daily until they sprout, then water as needed. Seeds will sprout in only 1-2 weeks. You can add some vegetable fertilizer while they are growing if so desired. I like to use an organic chicken manure for organic gardening. The blooms are a beautiful purple followed by equally gorgeous purple beans.
A NOTE ON SEED STORAGE:
The key for seed storage is cool, dark and dry. If your temperatures are not quite right for planting, you can keep the seeds viable by keeping them in the plastic bag that I send them in (which is thick and food grade for specifically this purpose,) place that in a paper bag to block light and put it in your refrigerator until you are ready to plant. This can be done with most all seeds and will keep them viable for 1-5 years depending on the species. If you have a basement, you can store them there as well. A sealed mason jar in a paper bag is also ideal.
