I was super excited about this new variety with deep dark purple flowers with lilac colored "tufts."
Lavender is known for its calming abilities and is also 100% edible. It can be brewed into tea or used in baked goods. The first time I had a lavender cupcake, I was overwhelmed by the combination of scent and taste and was hooked for good.
Lavender is also excellent for drying for a large variety of craft projects, as decoration in a bunch or pressed for its delightful oil.
Lavender detests humid and wet conditions. It grows best in very well draining soils. Adding perlite to the pot or the ground when planting is very beneficial and can make all the difference in your success of growing this magnificent herb.

Perennial that returns every spring in growing zones 5-8. Evergreen in zones 9+ but may struggle in summer.
Germination is greatly increased by folding the seeds into a moist paper towel and then a ziploc bag and placing in your refrigerator for one month, then plant when temperatures are around 70 degrees, Seeds will sprout in as little as 2 weeks.
Grows 2-3 feet tall and wide
Some sources say growing zones 5-8, others say 5-10. It can be grown in warm zones, it just doesn’t particularly like humidity. I am in zone 10, in a very humid climate and start the seeds in winter/early spring when it is still cool. I have never had luck with live lavender plants that I purchased. Growing from seed was the only thing that worked for me. It seems that the plants adapt to warmer and humid conditions when planted while it is still cool, so that they can adapt slowly.
Some other zones such as parts of California or Hawaii are zones 10 and 11 but are dry climates and much easier to grow due to the lack of humidity.
