Blue Sage, also known by its Latin name Salvia Farinacea, is a perennial plant that is native to Texas, New Mexico and other parts of the SW. It typically grows in zones 7-10 and can reach a height of 1-3 feet. The plant produces spikes of blue or purple flowers and has a pleasant fragrance. Blue Sage is often grown as an ornamental plant in gardens and is also used in traditional medicine.
Seeds require a brief period of cold to break dormancy that can easily be achieved by folding the seeds into a moist paper towel, then a ziploc bag and placing in your refrigerator for 30 days or they can be sown in fall.
