Plant Native!

Referred to as wine cup flower, purple poppy mallow is a gorgeous fuschia to violet color with a white center in 2-3 inch blooms. The plant is a ground cover, spreading 3 feet wide and 8 inches tall. The growth habit makes it a great container plant for hanging baskets as well.

A very beneficial wildflower that is native to most of the United States, from very cold regions all the way down to Florida. Highly attractive to bees and butterflies.

An interesting feature of this plant is that the blooms open in the morning and close at night. Both the leaves and roots are edible. The roots have a starchy, sweet potato like taste.

These seeds can be planted one of two ways:

The seeds require 30 days of cold stratification. Soak seeds in hot tap water for 24 hours and then either sow in fall for a spring emergence or cold stratify in your refrigerator for 30 days - fold the seeds into a moist paper towel, then a ziploc bag and put in your refrigerator for 30 days, then sow as normal.

Perennial that returns every spring. Remains evergreen in milder climates.

Growing zones 4-10

This is for 25 seeds
