A stunning and showy wildflower that is thel host to the gold moth,  silvery checkerspot.l and  Summer Azure butterfly. 


This beneficial plant is attractive to pollinators and has beautiful yellow flowers with petals in an arrangement that look like wings. The plant gets absolutely covered with blossoms

and reaches up to 8 feet tall!


They bloom from late summer into fall.


Wingstem is a US native and is found primarily in central North America, from Illinois, Missouri and east to North Carolina.


The plant can handle full sun but does prefer some afternoon shade. it prefers fertile and moist soils.


The seeds require 30 days of cold stratification to break dormancy. sow the seeds in late fall/winter for a spring emergence or you can fold the seeds into a moist paper towel and then a ziploc bag and refrigerate for 30 days, then sow as normal.
