What a beauty! Like having perennial sunflowers! In fact, Arrowleaf Balsamroot actually is a member of the sunflower family. It bears sunny yellow, 4-5 inch flowers, surrounded by light-green, large leaves shaped like arrowheads.
Native to cold, dry areas of the West from Colorado, west to the Sierra Nevada, and into Canada.
It is native to the following states/regions:
California, Midwest, North Dakota, South Dakota, Pacific Northwest, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Rocky Mountains, Colorado, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Southwest, Nevada, Arizona
The seeds require 60-90 days of cold stratification to break dormancy. sow the seeds in late fall/winter for a spring emergence or you can fold the seeds into a moist paper towel and then a ziploc bag and refrigerate for 30 days, then sow as normal.
