Amaranth, like quinoa, is an ancient grain. Highly nutritious and provides an abundance of crop with both grains and leaves. One flower head can provide you with 25,000 grains
This is also included in my hot climate seed pack, these are highly resistant to heat, drought and humidity. Very easy to grow
These are not only an excellent and abundant food source, but they are impressive, with flower sprays reaching up to 3 feet long that sometimes reach the ground. Truly eye catching!
The grains can be prepared like barley or buckwheat and used in soups.
Amaranth is very high in protein, also manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc, vitamin B6, vitamin B5, and folate.
Will even grow in summer in Florida, Arizona, California, Texas and Louisiana, grows just fine in cooler climates too. Not a picky plant.
