This is a very beneficial US native that will attract many pollinators and is deer and rabbit resistant.
It also has a long history of medicinal use.
The roots were also used to make rope and string.
The shoots and roots were eaten and cooked.

These require 60 days of cold weather to break dormancy. They can be sown in fall for a spring emergence or cold stratified in your refrigerator.
