Oak Leaf Hydrangea

Hydrangea quercifolia is a deciduous shrub native to the southeastern United States, where it grows naturally along streambanks and woodland edges. Its common name comes from the deeply lobed leaves, which closely resemble those of a red oak and turn rich burgundy and copper in autumn. The flower heads are elongated panicles of white florets that age to parchment and persist well into winter, giving the plant multi-season interest. It tolerates shade better than most hydrangeas and suits the edges of a woodland garden or a partly shaded border where structural presence matters year-round.
