This is not your average backyard dandelion. Pink Dandelion is a rare, ornamental cousin of the common weed, with pastel pink petals ringing a soft apricot to golden center. It blooms from spring through summer above a tidy rosette of toothed green leaves, bringing a charming cottage garden twist to a flower everyone knows. As with any seed grown wildflower, bloom color can vary a bit from plant to plant, with some paler or more apricot than others.

And yes, it’s edible, and it is gorgeous on a salad. Scatter the soft pink blooms over fresh greens for a pop of pastel color that makes an everyday bowl look like it came from a fancy restaurant. The young leaves are edible too, perfect for salads and sauteed greens, just like the common dandelion. Harvest only from plants that haven’t been treated with pesticides. Grown as a perennial, it returns year after year, so it doubles as a pretty ornamental and a little edible garden plant.

So how is it different from the regular dandelion? The most obvious difference is the color, soft pink petals instead of solid yellow. It is also native to Central Asia, where it grows in meadows and along forest edges, while the common dandelion is a European native. Best of all, Pink Dandelion is far better behaved. It stays in a neat, compact clump, about 6 to 12 inches tall and wide, and does not take over lawns and beds the way its yellow cousin is famous for. It is a favorite of bees and butterflies, and its early blooms are a welcome food source for pollinators in spring.

Perfect for borders, cottage gardens, edible landscapes and containers. Hardy perennial in zones 3 to 9.

As always, every seed we offer is 100% non GMO. Whether heirloom, open pollinated, or hybrid, our seeds are never lab altered or genetically modified, just real seeds bred the traditional way.

Growing Tips:
Sow on the surface and press seeds into the soil, do not cover, as seeds need light to germinate. Keep soil at 60 to 65°F and seedlings typically appear in 7 to 21 days. Start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before your last frost date, or direct sow around the last frost or in fall. Space plants 6 to 12 inches apart in full sun to part shade in average to fertile, well drained soil. Plants bloom in about 90 to 100 days from seed.
