Strawberry spinach, also known as strawberry goosefoot and Indian paint is a beautiful addition to salads. The leaves are very mild and sweet, not overpowering and the fruit has a taste that is a cross between watermelon and berries. This is a very easy to grow annual that can tolerate light frost. Leaves can be harvested at any time. At the end of its life cycle, it will produce beautiful magenta-red berries on long stalks that can also be used in vegetable or fruit salads. Very juicy! Yum!
This is a great addition to a survival seed kit, providing many nutrients and if you desire, you can leave some of the fruits to drop and you will have new plants every spring for a constant supply of greens.
