Sugar Plum Fairy is a hard to find, deep vibrant purple columbine. Just beautiful! It is appropriately named with delicate purple flowers that dangle like a ballerina.
This is a dwarf variety that grows 10-12 inches tall.
One of the few flowering plants that prefers part sun to full shade, Columbine is a delicate flower that produces multiple flowers in various colors.
These require either late fall/early winter sowing(45 degrees or less) for spring emergence or cold-moist stratification which involves simply placing them in a moist paper towel in a sealed ziploc bag and stored in your refrigerator for one month before planting. You can also plant them in small peat pots so all you have to do is remove them and place them in a sunny window or a partly sunny spot outdoors.
These are short lived perennials that self seed very easily so you only need plant them once!
