VESUVIUS ARKWRIGHTS CAMPION

Lychnis × arkwrightii is a compact herbaceous perennial — a hybrid campion grown for the startling contrast between its dark bronze-purple foliage and its vivid scarlet-orange flowers. The 'Vesuvius' selection is the classic form, reaching one to one-and-a-half feet, with star-shaped blooms held in clusters above the moody leaves from early to midsummer. It makes a brilliant accent at the front of a sunny border, draws butterflies, and though short-lived is easily grown from seed and will self-sow.
