Plants grow 3-4 feet tall, with clumps of downy green foliage that send up delicate, nodding blooms in late spring to early summer.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e A rare gem for collectors and adventurous gardeners, the White Himalayan Poppy brings an ethereal beauty to shaded borders, woodland gardens, and specialty perennial plantings.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e NOTE: I do not recommend attempting to grow these in climates warmer than zone 7 (with some exceptions in particular climates of zone 8 - see below). They need a period of cold to germinate. Zones as cold as 4 are possible with heavy mulching. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e These are ideal for mountainous rock gardens and will specifically do well\u003cbr\u003e In the Pacific Northwest where the weather is cool and wet. They are the national flower of Scotland where conditions are perfect for them and very similar to the Pacific Northwest. They will grow well in other regions, but I would not recommend them if your climate is desert-like, very hot, very dry or both. Humidity is good but not hot humidity. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e These need part shade, they will not tolerate full sun. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e If you are in a tropical climate, I would recommend any other poppies other than Himalayan or Oriental poppies. Annual poppies grown in fall are your best bet. You are welcome to try to grow them in warmer climates, but unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that the seeds will sprout or live long enough to flower.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e These are actually best planted in the fall or very early spring. Reason being is that they need a period of cold to germinate. They WILL NOT flower the first year. Even if you grow from divisions, they will not flower until their second year.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e These prefer acidic well draining soil, they like a lot of water but they don’t want to sit in it. You can amend your soil with acidifier and\/or pink bark\/mulch to print the ph down. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Given the right conditions, these will absolutely wow you with their elegant stark white blooms.\u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Blooms are 4 inches across. It grows 3-4 feet tall and 1-2 feet wide. \u003cbr\u003e \u003cbr\u003e Growing zones 5-7 only.
