White Mulberry Seeds (Morus alba var. tatarica)
Tatarian White Mulberry, is an exceptionally cold-hardy selection of White Mulberry valued for its adaptability, resilience, and sweet, pale fruits. It is impressively highly adaptable with growing zones spanning from the coldest of zone 3 to the warmest of zone 13. This variety was historically selected for improved cold tolerance, making it especially well suited for harsher climates while still performing beautifully in warmer regions.
The tree produces small to medium fruits that ripen from white to soft pink and stunning lavender, with a mild, honeyed sweetness enjoyed fresh or dried. Like other white mulberries, it has deep historical ties to silk production, as its leaves are the preferred food source for silkworms, and it has long been planted in food forests and homesteads for its reliability and productivity.
Fast-growing and tolerant of a wide range of soils, Tatarian White Mulberry is a practical and rewarding tree for gardeners looking to establish a long-lived fruiting tree with minimal fuss.
