I GET A LOT OF REQUESTS FOR TROPICAL MILKWEED, AKA SILKY RED OR HELLO YELLOW (Asclepias curassavica.) I do not carry it, as it is a host for a parasite than can harm and kill Monarchs. This particular milkweed is not a host for Monarchs in that is does not lay its eggs on Tweedia, but they do enjoy the nectar. This plant does not carry the parasite.
Very hard to find seeds for the rare plant collector, even more rare than the blue version, Tweedia or Pink Milkweed is in the milkweed family. Although it does attract Monarchs, it is more of a host for a variety or other species, including many species of butterflies, moths and bumble bees.
If you are looking for something to attract more than just Monarchs, this is your plant.
The plant grows to 3 feet tall but will grow up to 10 feet with a vine like habit if you give it a support.
These are easily kept in containers and can even be kept indoors in winter in cooler climates since they can handle part shade.
Outdoors, they are a year round plant in zones 9B and up, grown as an annual in zones lower than this or they can be permanently pot kept and brought in and out depending on temperatures.
Seeds can be started at any time as long as temps are around 70 degrees. Seeds are easy to germinate indoors or out. These do appreciate a heat mat underneath them if your indoor temps are cold.
This is for 10 Certified organic seeds. Very limited supply.
I combine shipping on all seed orders, you pay one flat fee for as many seeds as you would like for no additional shipping. Orders over $35 for any combination of items in my shop ship for free!
All of my seeds are tested and guaranteed. Most of my seeds are fresh off of my own plants.
