Wild bleeding heart is a beneficial US wildflower, native to the Appalachian mountains.
Named for its heart shaped blossoms that appear to be “bleeding.” Such a delicate and beautiful flowering plant.
Can be planted in winter for a spring emergence or cold stratified in your refrigerator. To artificially cold stratify, fold the seeds into a moist paper towel and seal in a ziploc bag and place the bag in your refrigerator for 90 days then plant as normal when temps reach 65-70 degrees
These should be planted in part shade to shade only.
These are perennials that develop underground rhizomes that return every spring. It grows a little larger with each growing season, reaching heights of 2-3 feet after 5 years.
